I mention price-history tools a lot on this channel — it’s step one on my own deal-verification checklist — but which one to actually use depends more on which platform you’re shopping than most “best price tracker” roundups let on. Here’s what I’ve actually found using each of them.
CamelCamelCamel doesn’t work for India — skip it
Worth saying upfront since it’s the most-recognized name in price tracking and a lot of people search for it by name expecting it to work here: CamelCamelCamel does not support Amazon India. It only covers Amazon’s US, UK, Canada, German, French, Italian, Spanish, and Australian stores. Punch in an amazon.in product and you’ll get nothing. If you’ve bookmarked it out of habit from years of using it elsewhere, it’s not going to help you here — skip straight to Keepa below instead.
BuyHatke — the one that actually covers your platforms
BuyHatke is the one built for exactly this site’s scope: it tracks Flipkart, Amazon, Myntra, and Ajio, not just Amazon. It’s a browser extension and app, Indian-made, and shows a price history graph (roughly the last three months), price-drop alerts, and a coupon finder layered on top — so you’re not just checking history, you’re also catching applicable coupons on the same screen.
Three months of history is enough to catch the most common trick — an MRP inflated right before a “sale” — but not enough to see a product’s full pricing pattern across festive sales a year apart. For that, you want Keepa.
Keepa — deeper history, Amazon only
Keepa has tracked Amazon India since 2011, which means it can show you a product’s actual price movement across multiple festive-sale cycles, not just the last few months. That depth is the real advantage over BuyHatke — you can see whether a “biggest discount ever” claim is actually true against years of data, not just recent weeks. The trade-off is scope: Keepa is Amazon-only, so it’s no help at all for a Flipkart, Myntra, or Ajio listing.
Keepa is available as a browser extension (it overlays the price chart directly on the Amazon product page, which is the easiest way to use it) and as a standalone site/app if you want to check a listing without opening it first.
Which one should you actually use?
Realistically, both — they’re not really competing with each other once you factor in what each one covers:
- Shopping on Flipkart, Myntra, or Ajio — BuyHatke is your only real option among these three; Keepa and CamelCamelCamel don’t track those platforms at all.
- Shopping on Amazon and want to double-check a big, “biggest sale ever”-type claim — Keepa’s longer history is more convincing evidence than BuyHatke’s three-month window.
- Shopping on Amazon for something ordinary — either works; BuyHatke’s coupon finder is a nice bonus if you’re already using it for other platforms anyway.
Neither replaces the rest of the checks on my deal-verification checklist — a clean price history doesn’t tell you whether the seller is legitimate or whether a coupon’s still active, just whether the discount itself is real.
