Every year around this time, I start getting the same question on the channel: “bhai, Big Billion Days kab hai?” Fair question — it’s the biggest shopping window of the year in India, bigger than Independence Day, bigger than pretty much anything except Diwali itself, because it usually is the run-up to Diwali. Neither Flipkart nor Amazon has said a word about 2026 dates yet, and I’m not going to pretend I know something they haven’t announced. What I can do is walk through exactly what we know from how both sales have actually run in the past, so you’re not starting from zero when the real dates do drop.
When is it actually happening in 2026?
Not announced yet, as of this writing. Both Flipkart and Amazon typically confirm dates only a couple of weeks before the sale actually starts — same pattern we saw with Independence Day this year. What we do know is how last year went, and both sales have been remarkably consistent about timing year to year:

Both sales have opened on the same day for the past several years — no coincidence, it’s the two platforms competing head-on for the same festive-season shopper. Amazon’s version tends to run for weeks rather than days, while Flipkart’s is a sharper, shorter burst. If 2026 follows the same pattern, expect an announcement sometime in early-to-mid September. Flipkart’s Big Billion Days
This is Flipkart’s flagship event, and it’s usually where the year’s steepest phone and electronics discounts land — often deeper than what shows up during Flipkart’s other sale windows across the year. It’s also typically when new flagship phone launches get their first real price cuts, not just the usual bank-offer stacking.

Amazon’s Great Indian Festival
Amazon’s version runs on a different rhythm — a much longer window, historically almost a month versus Flipkart’s ten days. That doesn’t necessarily mean better prices for longer; it usually means Amazon front-loads its best deals into the opening days (especially during Prime early access) and then lets a longer tail of smaller category-specific promotions run through the rest of the window.
Amazon’s catalog breadth is the real advantage here — electronics and mobiles get the loudest banners, but the sale genuinely covers home and kitchen, fashion, and Amazon’s own private-label products too, at a scale Flipkart doesn’t try to match outside its own core categories.
Getting ready before either sale actually starts
- Know what you’re actually shopping for. With a sale this big, it’s easy to end up buying five things you didn’t plan for and missing the one thing you actually needed. A short list going in helps.
- Track today’s price, not the sale banner’s claimed discount. The ”% off” shown is almost always measured against MRP, not what the item was genuinely selling for last week — the only way to know if a deal is real is knowing what you were paying before.
- Early access is real and worth checking. If you’re already a Flipkart Plus/Black member or an Amazon Prime member, you’ll likely see select deals before the general public does — worth opening the app a day early once dates are confirmed.
